Reunited, and it feels so good…but here’s what you need to know:
We understand that meeting together again can be intimidating, and want to make this transition as smooth as possible. Below is a list of what can be expected the next few weeks for services.
Is there a worship service available for us if we decide not to go physically?
YES! Pastor Eric Spady will be facilitating a worship service starting at 10:30 through ZOOM (no music/worship) but will transition to the live sermon, and after the sermon, continue the service with discussion and prayer. The Zoom Link to this Sunday’s Service is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9525693609. You can also call in to listen to the service and participate by calling: 1-312-626-6799,(Meeting ID 952 569 3609#) If you need help getting set up for zoom, please reach out to office staff, and they can talk you through it!
Will there be Sunday School?
Yes, we will have one consolidated Sunday School service in the Chapel with the Cantus at 9 am for the first few weeks.
Will the rows be spaced out to accompany social distancing?
Yes, we are going to try something totally new. We will have the room set up with tables instead of rows, and ask that family units sit together. Where there is space for others to join a table for the smaller families, we will try to do so while giving plenty of space to follow the county guidelines.
For the initial few weeks, we will be limited to 65 people capacity and we will be spreading seating around the room accordingly.
Will there be child-care or children’s church?
No, until further notice we will not have classes for preschool age through children’s church age available. However, should nursing mothers decide to attend, we will keep the nursery room available during service. We understand that some with (small) children may choose to stay home.
Will the Worship Service time be the same?
Yes and no! As we mentioned before, we will be doing the service a little different. We will still start at 10:30 and get out around noon or a little before. We will, however, have a shorter worship set and sermon so that we can incorporate discussion questions and prayer for each other immediately after the sermon.
If I decide to come, how do I give my offering?
Instead of “passing the plate” we will have a designated person go to each table and hold the offering plate so that the offering can just be dropped in, rather than passing if from person to person.
Will the normal print outs be there to take home?
No, until further notice, we will continue doing updates through email and printed mail outs for those who request it. If you would like to sign up to receive our updates, call or text Nicole to get you set up. Or visit gpchurch.us, scroll down just past “Our Staff” and click to sign up for our weekly newsletter!
Will coffee and tea still be available?
No, but feel free to bring your own, so long as it has a lid to it and is remembered to go back home with you!
Can I come in any of the entrances?
We would like everyone to come in through the main entrance downstairs for now. All other doors will be locked to better control the traffic. There will be signs around to navigate people downstairs to the main entrance.
Do I have to wear a mask?
We are not requiring people to wear masks, however we highly recommend doing so. There will be masks provided at the entrance as well as gloves, with someone there handing them out should you want either.
Has the building been sanitized?
To the best of our ability, we will have a thorough cleaning done to the entire building. We will also have Lysol cans for each of the bathrooms to spray the stall handles, wipes, and sanitizer available in the bathrooms and throughout the building.
We are asking that you respect other’s space and resist hugging, high fiving, etc. If you are not feeling well, or are susceptible to the virus, no matter the age, we ask that you stay home and enjoy the service live. Please remember that coming together, no matter how careful, is a risk. Regardless, we look forward to seeing each of you again, whether this Sunday, or in the weeks to come!
ZOOM Tutorial and steps to getting online:
Through Zoom, which is an app/website were people can gather via phone conference call or video, but as a group. We will have a few “hosts” available on Sundays to check in with each other, watch the sermon, worship, and pray together. If you’re unfamiliar with Zoom, watch the short video below.
Practical steps for your computer or tablet:
- Click on one of the Sunday service links (to the left) and you will be promted to download ZOOM or Open Zoom if you have used it before.
- A prompt will ask you to JOIN the meeting, and you can then enter the meeting.
- Test your sound and microphone if needed.
- Click here for written help and video tutorials for sound / microphone help.
