Scripture: Micah 6:8

Walking With God

  1. Introduction:

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Walking humbly with God is a commandment of the Lord. He is not asking us to do it. He is telling us to do it! It is necessary for His will and purposes being established on earth and in our lives. God’s commandments are always for our good and for the good all things.

The Bible speaks of those who walked humbly with the Lord, like Enoch who was taken up, and Noah who was a righteous man who walked with God.

Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.”

These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.

 A. Big Picture – Agreement with God’s plans and purposes

“Can two walk together, unless they are in agreement?” Read:

  1. His Kingdom, His will, On earth as it is in heaven

“You kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his  will,

according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all  things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

 2. A church conformed into the image of Christ:

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same  image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor. 3:18

In the BIG PICTURE: you are called to live for Jesus’ kingdom to be on earth as it is heaven. In addition, but not separate from that, we are called individually to be conformed into the image of Christ.

1.  Is your life aim to see Jesus’ Kingdom Come on earth as it is in heaven?

  1. Is your highest priority to be conformed into the image of Jesus?
  2. If these are priorities of your life before the Lord, How do you walk it out in your life?

  1. B. How Do You Walk with God In His Plans & Purposes (Heaven on Earth, Bride Conformed  to His Image)?

1) Walking with God in the mundane routines of life

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Everything we do or say is to be done by faith. Faith means in agreement with the Word of God and the Spirit of God – “Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

It insinuates that we are living a prayerful lifestyle talking to God about every aspect of our lives. Our aim is conformity to His image and His kingdom coming and His will being done.

Work/School – integrity; working for the success of the company (Jer 29:7; obey your boss, Eph. 6:5-8)

Homelife – considering their success your success; serving your family; considering them first;

Errands – driving, grocery shopping, pharmacy runs, banking, taxes, etc. do it in representation of the Lord

finance (spending and giving) – Keeping a kingdom perspective

Entertainment – do it in the name of Jesus; would you do it with Jesus; does it build you up in your faith

Relationships – within the family or outside the family, consider them before yourself,

how we talk builds up, edifies, clean, unto the Lord
